JAZZ ENSEMBLE METHOD

The Standard of Excellence Jazz Ensemble Method is an innovative method for teaching jazz. The method is divided into three sections, each representing a different jazz style; Rock, Latin and Swing. Each section presents rhythm and improvisation studies followed by correlated full jazz ensemble charts.

* JAZZ ENSEMBLE DIRECTOR'S GUIDE within Director Score includes articles on player selection, ensemble set-up, selecting music, rehearsal structure, concert programming, audio reinforcement, the director's role as "conductor" and rhythm section pedagogy.

    JAZZ IN CONCERT

    Also available is a great series for beginning jazz bands which contain original full jazz ensemble charts correlated with the Standard of Excellence Jazz Ensemble Method and Standard of Excellence Band Method book 2. Like the Jazz method each chart is scored for traditional jazz ensemble plus Flute, Clarinet, French Horn and Tuba. These charts are designed to sound full and complete when performed by as few as nine players. Student parts include correlated rhythm and improvisation studies and the Director Score contains composer biography, programme notes, director tips, rehearsal suggestions and rhythm and improvisation activities. A demonstration CD is also included with each chart!

  • JAZZ IN CONCERT

    Now available is the Standard of Excellence Jazz Combo Session which is a collection of jazz compositions that can be played in a wide variety of 'combo' settings. The unmatched versatility of Kjos Multiple Option Scoring allows for use with any combination of instruments, including both wind and string players!
